The Trends We Loved at Decorex 2024

11/10/2024 Written by: Seb #decorex 2024

Visiting this year’s Decorex left us with a lot to think and talk about. Year after year the convention proves that it is at the forefront of interior design and 2024 was no different. We were once again impressed by the variety of exhibits, the passion everyone showed for their products and craft, and the quality displayed throughout.

As a wholesaler of exceptional, designer furniture, we couldn’t help but take note of the subtle evolution of trends on exhibit compared to last year’s. We’d like to share our observations and join the conversation that is inevitable to follow an event like Decorex. These are the interior design trends that stood out to us in 2024.

Sustainability Takes Centre Stage

Sustainability continues to drive innovation in interior design and 2024 might as well have marked a turning point for the industry. We saw a heavier emphasis on recycling, upcycling and sustainable alternative materials. We support the efforts of the industry to reimagine itself with a focus on recyclable materials and designs. We are doing our part and working towards becoming a more sustainable business.

Bold Colours and Maximalism

Colour made a strong statement at Decorex with a variety of stalls exhibiting tastefully colourful furniture and lighting fixtures in bold and vibrant tones. Intricate heritage patterns were a standout for furniture upholstery, blending classic British designs with modern aesthetics. The fusion of past and present created a unique visual identity that appeals to both traditional and contemporary tastes. We believe that many of these exhibits would complement our very own furniture wonderfully such as the Lotus Dining Table and the Willow Collection.

Craftsmanship on Display

The organisers made the commendable decision to celebrate artisans with the Making Spaces exhibit which showcased craftspeople sharing their trade with attendees. It was an important display that revealed the artistry and skill involved in creating handmade furniture and decorations. It highlighted the resurgence of appreciation for artisanal work, where the story behind each piece is as important as the final product.

Luxury Fabrics

Boucle and velvet remain the most popular fabrics for luxury furniture, keeping the top spots for yet another year. Known for their rich textures and comfort, these fabrics were a staple across many exhibits, reinforcing the preference for plush, tactile aesthetics. Twenty10 is no stranger to those fabrics – we have used them in our beautiful Occasional Chairs, the Mickey Sofa and the cosy, woolly Hibiscus Headboards.
